Basketball Academy
Our Basketball Academy is all about providing opportunities. Our links with NBC Camps, the largest provider of overnight basketball camps in the world, enable us to offer places on NBC's UK based camps, as well as a chance to spend 2 weeks in Seattle, USA, experiencing basketball camp on NBC's home ground.
All our Academy students will get the chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications in coaching, refereeing, and sports first aid.
Duration:
2 years - running alongside a full-time course.
Entry Requirements:
The Academy is only available to students, aged 16-19 years, wishing to study a full-time course at Blackpool Sixth Form College.
Current Schedule:
Monday 4pm - 7pm Boys
Tuesday 4pm - 7pm Girls
Wednesday 7.30am - 8.30am Boys/Girls
Wednesday 4pm - 5.30pm Girls
Wednesday 5.30pm - 7pm Boys

Your Coach- Steve Legge
14 years at the College as a basketball coach. Steve created the Basketball Academy in 2002 and it has grown in reputation and status every year. Steve has coached our teams to national finals in both the English Schools and British Colleges competitions.
Coaching Qualifications
England Basketball Level 3 Coach
England Basketball Level 2 Referee
England Basketball approved tutor
Sports Leaders UK approved tutor
Sports Medic UK qualified
Coaching Experience
6 years as head coach Blackpool 6th Form College Academy.
4 years as Master Teacher for NBC Camps.
12 years as player coach to the Blackpool men's team. (Winning every domestic trophy in the North West).
2 years as Manager to the Manchester Eagles. (Playing in the highest league in the UK, and in the European cup against teams from Greece, Spain, France and Germany.
