The story behind our new brand….
Blackpool Sixth Form is now in its 22nd year and this means an exciting coming of age for a college which has served the young people of the Fylde coast for the last two decades.
Excellence, high aspirations and a strong sense of community have always been at the heart of our mission, as has a focus on developing mind and character. We’ve moved with the times – greatly expanding the courses we offer and ensuring that our teaching and learning is always inspiring. We’ve re-developed the campus with state of the art facilities which are amongst the best in the country.
In 2009 we received the huge accolade of an overall “Grade 1: Outstanding” from our Ofsted inspection.
In 2010, we launch a new brand image for the Sixth Form to reflect our focus on the future. The college crest has evolved into something new: a symbol of the energy, enthusiasm and confidence with which we look to the years ahead.

The expanding crest with its starburst appearance communicates:
- Inspiration: Our energy, dynamism and openness to change. This is represented in the star elements which burst out from the centre of the logo.
- Developing mind and character: Our celebration of excellence in all its forms; supporting and respecting many different pathways to success. This is represented by individual and diverse elements of the logo, each taking their own trajectory.
- Building your future: Our growing community – local, national, global. This is represented by the expanding nature of the logo – reaching out beyond the boundaries of the crest shape.
These elements emerge directly from our underlying core values:
- Respect - for ourselves, for others, for the environment
- Excellence and High Aspirations - being the best we can be, by striving to be more
- Support - helping everyone to succeed
- Inclusion - valuing everyone equally and striving to overcome any barriers to success
- Integrity - acting according to our values and promises
- Global Citizenship - being active in improving our world and broadening horizons
- Enthusiasm - learning because we love to learn, teaching because we love to teach.
And they come together in our mission statement:
