RUGBY LEAGUE ACADEMY
The Rugby Academies allow promising young players to follow a structured training programme in a professional environment, whilst studying for A levels or a BTEC National Diploma.
Students joining the Academy will benefit from the experience that each partner brings to the initiative and will gain a specialist combination of education, training and coaching across both codes. The Academy expects hard work both in the classroom and in training.
Good overall attendance at college is required to maintain a place on the Rugby Academies.
The rugby development aspect of the Academy will take place in the afternoons. This will involve specific coaching sessions and a programme of sports science support including strength training, conditioning, flexibility as well as diet and nutrition.
From the Academy students may progress into a career in professional rugby, or alternatively continue with their education and training. Academy students will be expected to represent the College Rugby teams in competitions on Wednesday afternoons. They will also have the opportunity to progress onto regional and national squads.
Our Rugby Academies are linked with local governing body accredited clubs.
