Diploma in Business

BTEC Business is an exciting and challenging course with a strongly practical approach. It is equivalent to two A levels over two years. The four core units provide an overview of the business environment, business resources and marketing. These are essential components to the success of any business. The specialist units will prepare you both for employment or further study in administration, marketing, or human resource management.
Did you know?
Some of our BTEC Business students are selected to join the department’s Business Academy. Each student is assigned a Partner in Business (mentor) from a local firm with whom they will meet on a monthly basis to discuss ideas for their future. In addition students complete a 6-week work internship (paid work experience), receive regular visits from Guru Lecturers, attend a conference and a number of workplace visits.
Specific requirements
You do not need to have already taken a Business course.
What will I study?
Twelve units over the 2 years, including:
- The Business Environment
- Business Resources
- Introduction to Marketing
- Business Communication
- Managing a Business Event
- Business Accounting
Assessment
100% coursework
100% coursework, with each module needing to be passed in order to complete the course. The coursework assignment methods will be varied and include word processed reports, case studies, observation of practical performance and work based assessments.
Where does it lead
Those students taking the course will have access to a variety of career and Higher Education choices.
