Drama & Theatre Studies

Take Theatre Studies at Blackpool Sixth and you will learn how to act, direct and design for the stage. The course is a mixture of practical and theoretical study, based on studying a set play, reviewing live theatre and developing your own performance for a live audience. The course would suit anyone with a real passion for live theatre, understanding how it is made and performing in front of an audience.

Specific requirements

- Grade B in English at GCSE strongly recommended
- Grade C in GCSE Drama or BTEC equivalent
- Experience in performing in public or for exams
- Good public reading skills
- A GCSE/BTEC drama grade is not essential for this course but you must be able to demonstrate significant experience in performing to be eligible (e.g. LAMDA).

What will I study?

Assessment

1 ½ hour written exam and presentation of a 20-30 minute extract of a play including 2,100 word coursework portfolio.

Where does it lead

Many students will go on to study Drama at university to eventually work in the theatre industry, teaching or drama therapy. Drama & Theatre studies is an excellent compliment to any course due to the variety of personal and communication skills developed.
