Extended Diploma in Fashion & Clothing

The course covers many elements of professional practice from the fashion industry. After tuition in a number of basic techniques students are encouraged to develop their knowledge in a highly personalised way. Students immerse themselves in activities relating to fashion industry job roles such as clothes design, fashion photography and graphic design. Experienced specialists and practising artists deliver the course in our spacious, purpose built open plan studios. Industry standard equipment ranges from Apple Mac computers and design software to quality sewing machines and over-lockers.

Specific requirements

At least a C in any Art or Design subject at GCSE or a pass at BTEC First Diploma in any Art or Design subject is accepted for entry. You do necessarily need experience in garment construction as this will be taught as part of the course but must have a keen interest in the subject. Students not having a formal art qualification will be required to bring a portfolio of their work to interview/enrolment.

Students can progress to a wide variety of fashion and design related study and careers including fashion design, retail management, fashion buying, fashion promotion, fashion illustration and fashion journalism.
