Health & Social Care - BTEC Extended Certificate/First Diploma

The Dual Pathway Programme is year one of a three year programme. It allows you to progress smoothly onto a full range
of advanced level applied programmes. For more information about the Dual Pathway: Level 2 Programme click here

This course is available as a BTEC Level 2 Diploma (worth four GCSEs) and as a BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate (worth two GCSEs).

What will I study?

This is a one year course. It aims to prepare students for progression onto further courses or employment in the field of health,
social care and early years.

You will learn about the range of care needs of different groups of people, the types of services to
meet those needs, the work roles and skills of people who provide health, social care and early years services.

You will gain knowledge about ways to look after your own health and to promote health and well being for others. Work  placement is an essential requirement of this course.

Assessment

100% Coursework based.

Where does it lead

The course lays the foundation for the study of Health and Social Care at a higher level. It also enables students to progress onto a Certificate or Diploma in Health & Social Care.
