ICT - BTEC Extended Certificate/First Diploma

The Dual Pathway Programme is year one of a three year programme. It allows you to progress smoothly onto a full range
of advanced level applied programmes. For more information about the Dual Pathway: Level 2 Programme click here

This course is available as a BTEC Level 2 Diploma (worth four GCSEs) and as a BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate (worth two GCSEs).

What will I study?

This qualification consists of seven units that are to be taken over the course of the year.

In the first half of the year you will learn about the different types of document that can be created using standard and advanced software packages, the hardware that allows us to complete such tasks and how software can be customised to suit our needs.

In the second half of the year you will work on an individual multimedia project based around website development, graphics,
movies and music.

The Apple Mac computers will enable you to experience industry standard packages for development of web sites and graphics.

Assessment

100% coursework.

 

Each unit that you take will have a number of assignments in which you can gain a Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Where does it lead

The course lays a foundation for the study of ICT at Advanced Level through BTEC or Applied ICT. It also enables students to progress on to Apprenticeships in the ICT sector.
