Travel & Tourism - BTEC Extended Certificate/First Diploma

This course is available as a BTEC Level 2 Diploma (worth four GCSEs) and as a BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate (worth two GCSEs).

Travel and tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, the course is an ideal introduction to this exciting and challenging industry.

The BTEC First Diploma is a practical and work related course that will give you an overall insight to the Travel and Tourism Industry.

You will benefit from developing a wide range of skills and gain sound knowledge, which will prepare you for a role within one of the most exciting industries or continuing study.

What will I study?

The one-year programme offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of the Travel & Tourism industry. Your studies will include investigating the UK travel and tourism industry, UK tourist destinations as well as marketing, planning visits, customer service and developing employability skills for travel and tourism.

Assessment

You will be assessed through assignments, projects and practical activities. You will participate in research activities and develop a range of skills relevant to travel and tourism.

All units will be assessed through portfolio evidence. You can achieve a Pass, Merit, or Distinction grade.

Where does it lead

Many students progress on to the BTEC National Certificates and Diplomas in Travel and Tourism or Business.
