International Students

The Sixth Form welcomes applications from international students.
We have a growing number of students who come from outside the UK to study with us. In recent years, we have welcomed students from many different countries including Azerbaijan, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Our international students come to Blackpool Sixth Form mainly to obtain A levels and / or other advanced level qualifications, such as the International Baccalaureate, which are very highly regarded and are the passports to University study in the UK and in many other countries worldwide.
Recently the Sixth Form was awarded ‘World School’ status in recognition of its ability to deliver the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
The Sixth Form enjoys excellent relations with universities all around the UK, and especially good links with local top universities such as the University of Lancaster and the University of Central Lancashire that are a relatively short drive away. We have a very good track record in supporting students with their applications to universities and have special programmes to support applicants to Oxford and Cambridge and to Medical Schools.
The Sixth Form has a very strong commitment to being an international community and we are always looking to forge strong links with other parts of the world. Our overseas students are full members of our Sixth Form and enjoy the
same opportunities and facilities as all our other students.
We have an International coordinator, John Turnbull, who helps international students through the application and enrolment process and provides further support for students during their time at Sixth Form. The Sixth Form can also help arrange high quality host family accommodation for you during your time studying here. Please contact John Turnbull for more information by e-mail jturnbull@blackpoolsixth.ac.uk
There are social activities organised for international students throughout the Sixth Form year including special meals and visits to local attractions.
Please contact John Turnbull at the Sixth Form if you are considering joining us as an overseas student and feel that you need additional advice. When you are ready to apply, use the on-line application form or the form included with this prospectus. Please complete with as much information as possible about you and your education. We will then write to you to let you know about the nextstage.
Details of course fees and estimated costs for accommodation and living expenses are can be found here. Students from EU or European Economic Area countries will normally qualify for free tuition.
Please ask us for advice if you are uncertain of whether you will need to pay fees.
