Students enjoy musical success
More than 30 students from The Blackpool Sixth Form entertained audiences on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a performance of tongue-in-cheek World War One themed musical, Oh What A Lovely War, to great success.

The show featured a number of classic songs from wartime including It's A Long Way To Tipperary, Pack Up Your Troubles and Keep The Home Fires Burning.
Students from Performing Arts, Music and Textiles all contributed to making sets and costumes, choreographing the dances and providing the music.
Graham Hamlyn, Deputy for the department of Performing Arts and Music, commented, "It really showed off the skills and the talents of our students with its focus on satire and variety. The students did really well and the audiences on all three nights really enjoyed it."
He added, "It has been a real collaboration between different departments. Oh What A Lovely War is one of our performing arts texts so when it was suggested we turn it into a production, students jumped at the chance."
Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, student Alice Tripp said, "It's been such a lot of fun working on this and it really has made me think about the nature of war and how badly soldiers were treated."
Jordan Atkinson added, "It's been good working with some of the older students. The whole process has been amazing."
