Personal Tutors
When you join the College you will be allocated a Personal Tutor.
The role of your Personal Tutor is to support and guide you so that you can gain as much as possible from your time at the College. Your Personal Tutor should be your first point of contact if you have a problem whilst at the College. Your Personal Tutor will:
- be a good listener
- be prepared to give up time to you when appropriate
- be approachable and friendly
- offer good, impartial advice
- have your best interests at heart
- be well informed about College procedures
You will spend your first day as a student at the College (Induction Day) with your Personal Tutor who will help you to settle in and get to know the place.
You will meet with your Personal Tutor every week as part of a Tutor Group. During these group sessions you will follow an active programme which aims to help and support your studies and prepare you for life after sixth form.
You will also meet individually with your Personal Tutor from time to time. The aim of these one-to-one sessions will be to discuss your academic progress or your career aims and to agree achievable targets. Students find this individual support extremely valuable.
During your time at the College your Personal Tutor's job is to help you. They are always available to listen if you have a problem, and while they may not be able to solve the problem they can usually point you towards somebody who can help.
