Fylde Teaching School Alliance Specialist Leaders in Education (SLE)

“Partnership to promote excellence in teaching, learning and leadership”

Background

Hodgson Academy and Blackpool Sixth Form in partnership were successfully designated as one of the first 100 Teaching Schools in July 2011 (National College website: http://www.nationalcollege.org.uk). The strategic partners to the Alliance are: Edge Hill University, Hambleton Primary Academy, Highfurlong School, St Mary’s Catholic High School, Westcliffe Primary School and Garstang Community Academy. The partnership will take a national and regional lead in both shaping and delivering the training and professional development of current and future generations of teachers. Hodgson and Blackpool Sixth Form will have responsibility for talent spotting programmes and leadership qualifications. The Teaching Schools programme is designed to bring more high quality graduates to the profession.

The Vision and Aims of the Fylde Teaching School Alliance:

Our moral imperative is to ensure outstanding learning opportunities for all students on the Fylde Coast, in order to enhance life chances. The alliance will narrow the gap in achievement ensuring continuous improvement in standards of attainment. The Fylde Coast Teaching School Alliance is committed to facilitating the highest standards of teaching, learning and assessment in each phase of learning. The Alliance will ensure excellent professional development both for current practitioners and leaders and for future recruits to the profession and aspiring leaders. Through dynamic partnerships, the Alliance will make a significant contribution to raising standards in all associated schools. We embrace change and will seek to challenge complacency, revitalising learning and ensuring success for all; those learning, teaching and leading. At all times we recognise and embrace a learning culture, constantly seeking to improve practice and outcomes in home organisations and across our community.

Aims

  • To generate and maintain momentum in educational innovation to secure outstanding practice in all phases of learning.
  • To develop professional relationships based on Trust, Transparency and High Aspirations.
  • To ensure a sustainable educational model by developing teachers and leaders of the future.

Role of the SLE

Specialist Leaders in Education are seen as a key role in the development of the Teaching School and will act to support raising standards in schools the Alliance works with (National College Website: http://www.nationalcollege.org.uk and Frequently Asked Questions: http://www.nationalcollege.org.uk/index/professional-development/npqh/npqh-frequently-asked-questions.htm).

You should:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years senior or middle leadership experience.
  • Capacity, skill and commitment to support other individuals or teams.
  • Proven track record of outstanding practice.
  • Proven track record of raising standards in education

The window for application for the role of SLE opens on 17th October.

The Open Event will provide you with information, support and guidance in order that you may consider your suitability for the post and to reflect upon your key focus in the application process.
