The college is using tuition funding to support the tuition of additional small groups for students in English, maths, or other courses where learning has been disrupted. Identified teachers support a small group of students once per week for two hours over a course of six weeks to catch up on lost learning. These students are identified by their subject teachers and clear plans for catch-up are put in place; support is targeted particularly for disadvantaged students.
Students who have additional support from the tuition fund support sessions tell us they find them particularly useful for the following reasons:
- Having a teacher there to help if I have a question, so instant feedback
- Helps me with time management (set time and structure/routine) and doing assignments task by task
- The most useful part has been the tracker which set me goals for each session
- It’s really helpful for me to manage my work and gets me motivated.
