Our friendly Admissions team are busy working from home to provide advice and guidance for Year 11 students. If you have not already had an interview to discuss your course choices, please check your email accounts for an invitation to have an interview with one of the team. The interview will mainly be done through email.
We’ve had great feedback from the South Shore applicants who had their interviews via email “The process was easy and quick” “Thank you very much, I’m looking forward to starting at Blackpool Sixth!”

The FYi is our fully-equipped Library and Learning Resource Centre
Our state-of-the-art facilities have been carefully designed to aid your learning in a modern and comfortable environment. You will find a quiet, welcoming library stocked with all the books and magazines you’ll need, both for your courses and for leisure reading. We strongly encourage all our students to read: we offer a range of book clubs, including manga – and we also encourage you to try writing for yourself in our Creative Writing Group.

Strong pastoral care, support and guidance are extremely important in contributing to students’ success. Your pastoral mentor will offer advice and guidance to help you settle in quickly and enjoy your time with us. You will have a weekly tutorial session with your Pastoral Mentor and there are also regular 1:1 meetings, where individual targets are set and reviewed. Your pastoral mentor will also help you to make the right decisions about career choices and applications for higher education or employment, as well as offering the Life Links Programme that aims to provide support and guidance through your time at Blackpool Sixth and prepare you for life after college.
Our Futures Team are experienced careers advisers who help you to progress successfully to your chosen next step. They can also help you gain valuable work experience to support your career plans. 6XTRA
Blackpool Sixth offers an extensive extracurricular activity programme called 6Xtra. This programme includes a wide range of sports teams, as well as societies and clubs such as musical theatre, yoga and climbing. It is a great opportunity to further existing interests, take up a new challenge, make new friends and have fun. To find out more about the 6Xtra programme click here
6advance
6Advance is an exciting range of ‘academies’ designed to enable ambitious students to prepare for university and prestigious future careers. Each 6Advance choice will provide participating students with excellent activities and skills-building to help them go beyond the exam curriculum and apply their knowledge and skills in challenging contexts. In so doing, they will discover more about about a general subject or job area and will build up a great portfolio for applying to highly selective universities or higher apprenticeship programmes. You will develop exceptional employability skills, including, leadership, collaboration and teamworking, public speaking and confidence. Find out more here.
LGBT+ GROUP
The LGBT Group was set up by a former student who felt that the LGBT+ community did not have a voice in College. When it was created it only started as a small group of students. However, over the past years the group and community has grown and is now part of the 6Xtra programme so every student has the opportunity to join. Find out more about the group here LGBT+ Group

ROUTE3 PROGRAMME
All you need to know about our Route3 Programme
Want to study at Blackpool Sixth but not sure you’ll get the grades you need? We have the ideal option for you. Our ‘Route3’ programme gives you an opportunity to gain your level 3 qualifications over three years instead of two. This is ideal for students who may not quite obtain the grades they need to progress straight into our level 3 programmes when they leave school.
