Life Links classroom sessions
The classroom sessions will be once a week for every student and will last for approximately 30 minutes. In these you will cover a range of subjects which will broaden your knowledge and skills around:
- mental health
- British Values
- what is going on in the world
- staying safe
- study skills
- next steps
The sessions are based on what you will find happening in the world and on the news, making them relevant and keeping you fully informed of life both in and outside of Blackpool. There will be an opportunity to vote, and have your voice heard with us utilising the ‘Votes For Colleges’ system you are able to compare your results to those of the rest of the country.
Learning outside of the classroom
These sessions will be once per half term, and will build on the knowledge and experience you have picked up during the classroom sessions, allowing you to build your confidence and team working skills in new environments.
Lectures will be around once per half-term and will be on topics that are relevant to you at the time, such as universities, apprenticeship providers and workplace representatives.
1:1 support and mentoring
Your Pastoral Mentor will be your Life Links coach and will be available throughout your time at Blackpool Sixth in ‘The Link’ for any support or guidance you may need whilst you are with us. They will also conduct regular 1:1 reviews to check up on your development and academic progress.
