Wellbeing Week
Blackpool Sixth is holding a week of activities to highlight the importance of student wellbeing during these unprecedented and challenging times. The week, beginning on Monday 22nd February, will help highlight the wide range of support and resources available to students.
Although under the current lockdown the activities can’t be delivered face-to-face, there will be lots of student participation through on-line means during curriculum lessons and pastoral sessions. College staff and members of the college’s Student Council will also be reaching out to students through podcasts, videos and social media.
The week will emphasise both mental and physical wellbeing and there will be input on emotional support, mindfulness, mind-body activities such as stretching and yoga and other means of self-care.
The college has developed its own online platform, Thrive, which is packed with advice, activities and resources. The platform is available for anyone to use at https://www.blackpoolsixth.ac.uk/thrive/
Head of Additional Learning Support and Student Wellbeing Lead for the college, Dave Williams commented, “We think it’s hugely important that everyone is focusing on their wellbeing at this very difficult time. It’s fantastic how students and staff have worked together to put together this week of activities and the Thrive project as a whole.”
