6Xtra is our extracurricular activity programme, it works around a student’s weekly academic timetable to enrich students’ learning and development. 6Xtra is a great opportunity to further an existing interest, take up a new challenge, make friends and have fun.
Our activities can contribute to personal and social development, whilst developing important skills such as commitment, good citizenship, initiative, leadership and team spirit, all of interest to employers and universities.
Our 6Xtra programme is split into three sections
This takes place during pastoral mentor sessions and includes team building, developing communication and problem solving skills in a practical and fun way. This takes place outside of the classroom and focuses on developing employability skills.
Clubs and societies
We offer a wide range of clubs and societies for students to take part in. Normally these would run at lunch times, Wednesday afternoons and after college, although currently online only at the moment. Attendance at these is optional. Activities such as: Musical theatre, badminton, table tennis, climbing, golf, knitting, yoga, book club, 5 a side football, LGBT group and many more.
Blackpool Sixth offers a wide range of sport and other physical activities and the majority of our students choose to participate in one or more of them. Many take part for exercise and enjoyment alone, whilst others are members of one or more of our successful college teams. Team sports at Blackpool Sixth have never been stronger and are currently running following NGB COVID 19 guidelines. We run teams in:
- Basketball (male and female)
- Rugby (male and female)
- Football (male and female)
