Nicola Craven

Principal

As Principal I am incredibly proud to lead our vibrant, caring and happy college. My responsibility is to lead the college’s strategic vision and values so that all students have access to the very best education.

The college is committed to providing the highest standards of teaching, learning and support for our students and the local and wider communities it serves and this is enabled by the impressive facilities and highly qualified, experienced and dedicated staff.

I am passionate about providing an inclusive learning experience in which students are happy, are developing as independent, confident, suitably challenged and well supported individuals who are able to fulfil their potential. This is well evidenced by the high levels of achievement and strong destinations of our students year on year.

I lead Blackpool Sixth with an unwavering focus on meeting the needs and ambition of all students and ensuring the college continues to provide each student with access to an inspiring curriculum. Upon starting college, it is often the case that students are not clear on what they want to go onto beyond college. Blackpool Sixth has a successful track record of leading on a curriculum offer which has something for everyone and is locally and regionally responsive and innovative such that students gain the right knowledge, skills, attitudes and attributes to go and succeed during and beyond their time at college.

Gail Yeadon

Deputy Principal

As Deputy Principal I am responsible for the quality of the academic curriculum, in particular, in A level and GCSE courses, and teaching, learning and assessment across the whole college.

I am passionate about providing learning opportunities for our young people that allow them to flourish. For our students to thrive they need high quality, purposeful and engaging teaching and assessment and, importantly, they need to be happy.

This is one of the reasons that working collaboratively with our remarkable staff has such a positive impact on our students' experience here at college and their journey into their next steps. Such positive relationships between staff, students and their parents and carers lead to our continued celebration of outstanding achievements and destinations year on year.

Tina Cooper

Vice Principal

As Vice Principal I am responsible for the quality of the vocational curriculum at level 2 and 3, such as BTEC, CTEC and T Levels. Additionally I am responsible for the cross college curriculum offer, adapting that offer in response to student and employer needs and to national education developments.

I believe that education has the power to transform a young person’s life and am passionate about providing students with choice and opportunities that fulfil their higher education and career aspirations through high quality education and support.

I firmly believe in equality of opportunity and that all young people can develop in a safe and happy environment - that is what is so wonderful about Blackpool Sixth. I am proud to lead and be part of a team that has a focus on the whole person, going beyond their academic studies, enabling students to develop a broad range of skills through their studies and extracurricular opportunities, raising their aspirations, self-belief and confidence, and helping them to be happy and successful.

Stuart Ormson
