PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Welcome to Blackpool Sixth. I'm delighted that you are considering our wonderful college.
Blackpool Sixth is an outstanding sixth-form college specialising in 16-19 education. With just over 2000 students we are a close and caring college. We pride ourselves on our academic excellence and on delivering the highest standards of teaching, learning and support.
We are a vibrant, inclusive and happy community serving a wide area which includes Blackpool and all major towns and villages of the Fylde and Wyre District. In December 2021 the college was inspected and retained its Outstanding grading in all areas.
The college works hard to ensure it always provides the very best education for the young people in our community. The college offers a wide range of courses with numerous A levels, vocational options at both level 2 and level 3, an extensive enrichment offer which includes an array of trips, visits and guest speakers and bespoke student preparation programmes including our prestigious excellence programme. Students are able to put together a programme that exactly matches their interests and future ambitions and you can find all the options available in our helpful student course builder.
The college has a clear and distinct mission: Inspiring learning, developing character and building futures. This mission is underpinned by a clear set of core values which is threaded in everything we do as a college. We want students to be the very best they can be. Students who study at Blackpool Sixth have access to our wonderful, dedicated and expert staff who support, challenge and broaden horizons. This results in students achieving high grades in a range of qualifications and leaving college in the very best possible position to take on the next step in their journey including university, employment or apprenticeships.
Our students tell us they enjoy their time at the college very much. They appreciate the exceptionally high standards of facilities. Students feel that staff go the extra mile to ensure they are safe, feel happy and are flourishing: they say relationships between students and their peers and between students and staff are highly positive and respectful and that they are treated as adults.
Results at Blackpool Sixth are strong across the board. We firmly believe this is due to our ability to get to know each student well, understanding their needs and ambitions and having a firm and consistent commitment to student happiness and achievement at all times. It is this approach which we hope you will have the chance to experience first hand during our taster and new student events held throughout the year.
I wish you all the very best in choosing the right courses and the right college for you.
