COURSE oVERVIEW
This is open to selected BTEC Sport and BTEC Sports and Exercise Science students in Year 2 (Upper Sixth) following their successful completion of Community Sports Leaders Award (CSL)
EXAMINATION BOARD: LEADERSHIP SKILLS FOUNDATION
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Must be studying BTEC Sport or BTEC Sport and Exercise Science
Why study Subject at Blackpool Sixth?
Students will meet with our Sports Leaders UK qualified tutor twice a week and the course content will be a mixture of written work, practical leadership within college and supporting Active Blackpool in their delivery of primary and secondary school events in the community.
Those successfully completing the Higher Sports Leader Award will receive 16 UCAS points to help with entry to university courses.
How will I be taught?
This is open to selected BTEC Sport and BTEC Sports Science students in Year 2 (Upper Sixth) following their successful completion of Community Sports Leaders Award.
This is our more advanced Sport Leaders Award where students who have excelled in CSL can further develop their leadership skills whilst learning about topics such as:
- Creating a personal development plan
- Creating a personal development plan
- Barriers to participation
- Duty of care for coaches and leaders
- Writing risk assessments
- Physiological, psychological and social benefits of physical activity in the community
- Creating inclusive and progressive physical activity sessions
