On 9th October 2024, The Blackpool Sixth Form College hosted its highly successful Health and Social Care Careers and Volunteering Event. The event offered students a unique opportunity to connect with industry professionals and explore the vast range of careers available within the health and social care sector.

Throughout the day, students engaged with experts from a variety of fields, including nursing, paramedic services, doctoring, midwifery, speech and language therapy, and more. From the fast-paced world of paramedics—with an ambulance on-site for hands-on exploration—to the compassionate care involved in end-of-life oncology, the event provided a comprehensive look at the many rewarding roles available.

Students also gained insight into roles within HR and finance in the NHS, sexual health services, and supporting adults with chronic conditions such as dementia. There were opportunities to explore careers in dental nursing, occupational therapy, medical photography, SEN teaching, counseling, social work, and physiotherapy, offering something for everyone interested in making a difference in the lives of others.

This event was not only about career exploration but also about empowering students to make informed decisions about their future paths. By engaging with professionals, students gained valuable knowledge and inspiration that will help shape their journeys into meaningful careers in health and social care.

A huge thank you goes to the organisers, volunteers, and all the professionals who made this event possible. Your commitment to supporting and guiding the next generation of healthcare professionals is greatly appreciated!
