BTEC Level 2 Certificate: Creative Digital Media
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is offered as part of the college’s Transition programme. It is an exciting course covering some of the important skills needed for modern digital media including films and online.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
To join this programme you will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (or equivalent). One of either English language or maths needs to be at least a grade 3 whilst the other needs to be no less than a grade 2.

How will I be taught?
- Each unit is split into a theory section and a practical section.
- You will be taught through up-to-date and detailed case studies.
- You will work closely with other students and peer assess and peer teach one another.
- All work will be produced, stored and submitted digitally via Google Drive.
- Where possible, the exam material is taught naturally through other units and as practically as possible.
Teacher expertise
You will be taught by experienced tutors with extensive knowledge in both creative media and photography. The department has a good spread of practical and theoretical knowledge in both media and visual arts.

What will you study and other information about BTEC Level 2 Certificate: Creative Digital Media
- What will I study?
- Digital publishing – you will study how and why magazines are produced on digital platforms before designing and creating your own magazine front cover for a topic of your choice.
- Digital moving image production – You will study a range of moving image productions such as feature films, TV adverts, and music videos, you will then use this knowledge to create a short dramatic dialogue scene.
- Planning and pitching – you will learn how to professionally present your media ideas in written and aural formats. This will involve presenting in front of your tutors.

You will be encouraged to seek work experience as part of the course. Guest speakers are routinely invited into college for example the British Board of Film Classification.
Where does it lead?
Students tend to progress to the level 3 creative media (film and television production) course. However, the skills learned in this course will help prepare you for a wide variety of further study.
