Your Guide to Course Discussions

Welcome

Course discussions are all about helping you make the best choices for your future. It's your chance to help confirm you're on the right track with your subject choices, and lock in your place at Blackpool Sixth for September 2027!

Appointments

Please try to arrive about 15 minutes ahead of the appointment time you have booked. Parents and carers are very welcome to join you throughout the evening. There is plenty of parking available and we are well served by public transport.

Don’t worry if you are running a bit late though - as long as you arrive before 7.30 pm, we’ll have time to see you.

Your To-Do Checklist

Think About Your Choices: Take a moment to review the courses you've picked and think about how they fit with your interests and any career plans you have.
Update Your Application: If you’ve already changed your mind about courses, then update them online so we have your latest options.
Add in Your Predicted Grades: If you haven’t already added in predicted grades for your GCSEs, please do this based on your most recent school report. Don’t use mock exam results though as these are likely to be lower than your predicted grades. This info is just to help with our guidance on the evening.
Jot Down Your Questions: Write down anything you want to ask about subjects, grades, or support—no question is too small!
Check Extra Info You Might Need: If you want to chat about travel, student bursaries, or extra guidance, let us know on the night.

What Happens on the Night

Arrival and Sign-In: Head to Main Reception and then through the Foyer doors. Check in with our friendly team to get your ID sticker with your choices and reference number.
Chill in the Waiting Area: Grab a seat outside Relish and sit back— a staff member will call your name when it's time.
Your Course Chat: Meet up with teaching staff inside Relish! You'll chat through your course choices, entry requirements, what makes each course awesome, and all the fun extras like our fantastic Career Academies and our inspiring enrichment programme. You can expect this bit to last around 20 minutes.
Get Your Offer: Collect your official offer certificate and find out about opportunities to find out more about Blackpool Sixth before enrolling with us.
Heading Home: Head out through the Theatre doors next to Costa and spare a moment to give us your feedback on the evening.

Student Support and Transport Info: Located just outside Relish to answer questions about bus passes, travel, and financial support.
Futures and Careers Team: Stationed inside Relish for expert advice on career paths, universities, and degree apprenticeships.
Drinks and Snacks: Available outside Relish for you and anyone coming along with you.
