STUDENT INDUCTION
We are delighted to welcome new students to Blackpool Sixth. Induction is designed to help students settle into college life, become familiar with the campus and access all the information they need before lessons begin.

Induction Dates
- Tuesday 1st September
- Wednesday 2nd September
Each student will attend one half-day induction session. Individual dates, times and room allocations will be confirmed separately.
Students should arrive shortly before their start time and make their way to the main entrance, where staff will be available to provide directions.
What Happens During Induction?
Induction provides an introduction to college life and includes:
- Essential information about college facilities and services
- Guidance on college procedures and expectations
- How to access timetables and online systems
- Collection of college membership cards
- Opportunities to meet staff and other students
- A tour of the college campus
- Information about extracurricular and enrichment activities
- An introduction to online learning resources
Bring Your Own Device
Students are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet to induction and to all lessons.
Technology is an important part of learning at Blackpool Sixth and students will take part in a Technology for Learning session during induction. Support will be available for any technical questions or setup issues.
College Accounts
Students will receive their college email address and login details before induction. These details will be needed to access college systems and online learning resources.
Financial Support
A range of financial support is available, including:
- Subsidised transport
- Free meals
- Loan devices
- Additional financial assistance for eligible students

Starting college is an exciting step, but it is also normal to feel nervous about a new environment.
Students can access a range of wellbeing resources through the college’s Thrive portal, which offers practical advice and support to help manage change and settle into college life.
