SprinG marathon for college staff

A group of Blackpool Sixth staff are taking on a marathon challenge at the end of the college's Easter break. The group are all part of the college's staff 'Run Club' and they have been training for several months for the Manchester Marathon which takes place on Sunday 14th April.

The staff are Matt Speight, Head of Humanities; Dave White, MIS Performance Analyst and Jon McLeod, Head of Admissions, Liaison and Marketing. Former member of staff Liesl Allen will also be taking part as will Claire Hemingway from Inclusion, who regularly visits the college to work with students. Unfortunately, an injury has prevent the Run Club's coach Dave Williams, Head of Additional Learning Support, from running this time but he will be cheering on the group on the day.

For Matt, Liesl and Claire, this will be their first experience of the full marathon. Both Dave White and Jon have completed several marathons before.

Liesl is raising money for the Alzheimer's Society and Jon is raising money for Freedom From Torture, a charity who help provide psychological support for refugees living in the UK who have been victims of torture.
