A New Era for the Arts at Blackpool Sixth

On Wednesday 15th October, Blackpool Sixth marked an exciting new chapter with the official launch of the Academy of Creative Arts (ACA) and the opening of the state-of-the-art Holland Music Block. This new facility has been designed to inspire students pursuing courses in Performing Arts, Music, Media and Visual Arts, supporting the growth of young creative talent across the region.

Celebrating a Major Milestone for Creative Education
Guests were welcomed with arrival drinks, celebration cakes and tours of our freshly developed creative spaces. These upgrades have been made possible thanks to the generosity of the late Gordon Halliwell, whose legacy gift has transformed opportunities for Blackpool Sixth students.
To make the moment even more special, we were delighted to welcome back former student and professional performer Kitty Harris, known for her roles in Greatest Days, Chicago and Burlesque the Musical. Kitty officially opened the Holland Music Block, inspiring current students with her industry success.

Live Performances Showcasing Student Talent
Throughout the launch event, the college was filled with energy as students delivered standout performances from Revelations, Ghost Dances and Newsies. These performances highlighted the creativity, dedication and skill nurtured within the Academy of Creative Arts.

Supporting the Future of the Creative Industries
At Blackpool Sixth, we’re committed to empowering students to achieve their full potential. The Academy of Creative Arts brings together learners from multiple creative disciplines, encouraging collaboration and the development of essential skills for future careers in the arts industry.
As we look to the future, we’re excited to see how the ACA and Holland Music Block will continue to shape the next generation of performers, creators and innovators.
