Why study BTEC Level 3 Art and Design (Triple) at Blackpool Sixth?

The course covers many elements of professional practice needed to be successful within the design industry. This course offers extensive opportunities to work with live external briefs and practicing artists. Projects include client-led briefs and working within the local community. All students plan and promote their own end of year exhibition. The course helps learners to find out what they enjoy, what they are good at and allows them to develop a set of valuable skills for future study and work.

How will I be taught?

The course is made up of 4 modules. In this qualification learners engage with study through project work. Development is progressive taking learners through a range of workshops and assignments during Module 1 to practice and refine ideas, skills and technique across a variety of specialisms. This is followed by a project brief for Module 2 that allows you to develop chosen skills further. In year two learners specialise. Module 3 involves researching progression routes and preparing portfolio and interview techniques. Module 4 involves a personal project in which peer assessment and one-to-one discussions and personalised target setting support your learning. Here the learner is at the pinnacle of their learning when they are awarded their overall grade, Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Teacher expertise

Teachers for the course are from a wide range of disciplines including backgrounds in illustration, photography, fine art, textiles and graphic design.
