Core maths
COURSE oVERVIEW
Keep up valuable mathematical skills if you are not taking A Level mathematics. The course helps to build skills in mathematical thinking, reasoning and communication.
Core Maths is about using maths to solve the kinds of real-life problems you'll meet when studying other subjects and in work and life. You'll learn some new topics, but it also uses some of the maths you already know from GCSE.
Ideal for students studying: Psychology, Geography, Biology, Economics, Sociology & Business
This one-year course is equivalent to half an A Level and is taken alongside your main study programme of three A Levels (or equivalent courses). The Core Maths exams are completed at the end of the first year.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Standard college entry requirements plus Grade 5 in GCSE Maths.
How will I be taught?
Lessons are taught by subject specialists in a collaborative environment. Students are provided with many learning opportunities to work individually and in small groups: including working on whiteboards around the classrooms. The department has a website, where students can access lessons, resources, and support videos.
