COURSE OVERVIEW
This course will give you skills and knowledge to help you thrive in the modern world of digital communications. It will help prepare you for a very wide range of further study and career routes.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
To join this programme you will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (or equivalent). One of either English language or maths needs to be at least a grade 3 whilst the other needs to be no less than a grade 2.
Why study BTEC Level 2 Award: IT at Blackpool Sixth?
We combine this course with the BTEC First in Business to provide a broad and exciting preparation for future study and careers. This course will prepare you for many subjects in the level 3 programme as it helps develop your confidence in computers. It also feeds into the IT level 3 BTEC programme and A Level graphics as we cover elements of these courses within the work you do
How will I be taught?
Unit 1 the online world is an exam for 1 hour on the computer containing a series of short answer questions or multiple choice questions. The other 3 units are 100% coursework and will be separated into assignments. The content will be taught in a practical way with many small activities to teach you the information.

Chelsie has a background in primary school teaching (head of IT) and is an advocate for getting students to develop their employability skills.

How will I be assessed?
Unit 1 is an exam unit that will be done on a computer. Units 4 ,3 and 6 are assessed by coursework and are 100% coursework

You will benefit from the expertise of guest speakers and unit 6 (digital graphics) is a live client who you work for.
Where does it lead?
The course will help prepare you for a wide variety of study and career routes. The course is an excellent preparation for the BTEC IT at level 3. Students have progressed from the level 3 course to Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, and Civil Service apprenticeships as well as university courses in computer animation, digital graphics and web design amongst many others.
