Organised through schools, these days give Year 10 students a taste of college life with hands-on subject sessions and a chance to explore Blackpool Sixth.
TERM DATES
Academic Year 2025-26
Blackpool Sixth does not normally permit holidays during term time.
There is a significant relationship between attendance and achievement. Losing vital days/weeks of study has been shown to result in students underperforming in both exams and coursework. Blackpool Sixth therefore has a responsibility to ensure students achieve their full potential and maximise their employability skills/life chances by avoiding unnecessary periods of absence.
As a result, Blackpool Sixth expects college to take priority. This means that other activities should be arranged outside of students’ college commitments, for example, all holidays must be taken outside of term time.
It is recognised that there may be very rare occasions where a student may require a leave of absence from college due to significant extenuating circumstances. If there are extenuating circumstances surrounding the holiday request, then permission must be sought from the Principal, as soon as possible.
This must be done by completing a special leave request form, which can be found here. This can be completed by parents/carers of current students, or prospective students who intend to enrol at Blackpool Sixth.
