
What is it?
You will explore all aspects of drama, practical and theoretical, study and perform texts, create original devised work and learn from professional live theatre.

All assessment is in the second year:
Final exam (40%)
Devised performance/coursework (30%)

Theatre visits, audition skills workshop, ALRA auditions in college, performance opportunities in college musical and drama productions.
Where does it lead?
Study of acting at drama school, drama at university. Students also use drama for entry to wide range of other degree programmes. Recent destinations: ALRA, The Hammond School, LIPA, Manchester. Leeds and Lancaster universities.
Equipment
You will need to have your own copies of each of the texts. You will also need to have access to a laptop/computer/tablet to enable you to work collaboratively in class and access a range of digital resources.

Entry Requirements
- Grade 4 in GCSE Drama if taken, if not, suitable up-to-date experience in performing publicly or for exams will be considered. Grade 5 in GCSE English Language preferred.
What will I study?
- Unit 1: Drama and Theatre – study of two contrasting texts, considering performance and production potential and analysis of live theatre.
- Unit 2 – Creating Original Drama – Original devised drama created by you, inspired by a professional practitioner.
- Unit 3 – Making Theatre – Practical realisation of different scripts, including one performance in front of visiting examiner.
